How the Club operates

The activities of the Club used to be channelled through a number of Committees. However the Club recently decided to discontinue this practice and instead appoint one of their Members to lead on specific issues leaving them to involve other Members as and when appropriate before making final proposals to the Club Council or the full Club.

The following arrangements currently apply:-

Youth Service

Sally Searle leads. Rotarians are greatly supportive of activities that address the challenges that face the youth of today

International Service.

John Phillips leads supported by Dick Wilkinson. As the name of the organisation is Rotary International, much of our work is given to supporting activities where we can be of help, like eradicating polio, providing water to the remotest regions and funding materials for schools. The Club give great support to two African projects in Kenya and Eswatini.

Foundation

Peter Kimber leads. We raise money for our charitable activities, to accord with the requirements of the Charities Commission, and this Committee ensures we comply with the regulations

Community, Vocational  and Environmental

Mary Whitehead and Ivan Flack jointly lead. This responds to the local needs of Bedford, including helping Food Bank, supporting the growth of Marston Forest, aiding the homeless and supporting those affected by domestic abuse

Club Service

John Day leads. This is where our social events are arranged, which include the weekly lunch with speaker, fundraising events and other activities.

Membership and Marketing

Maureen Strutt, our President Elect, looks after issues to do with membership as well as overseeing how the Club markets and projects itself in the Rotary and wider worlds.
